What is sent where

What leaves your Mac, where it goes, and what stays.

To the AI you choose

The AI you choose sees your messages and the code it reads. On a ChatGPT plan that is OpenAI, through Codex; with an API key it is OpenAI or Anthropic.

To your cix account

cix keeps an index of your code in your account, so the AI can find its way around it. Your saved research, designs and plans are kept there too. We don't train models on your code, and we don't sell it.

Kept on your Mac

API keys stay in your Mac's keychain, not in your cix account.

Problem reports and usage

When something in cix fails, the app sends a short problem report so we can fix it. Reports are on by default, and you can turn them off in Settings. cix also records which of its tools were used, for every account; turning problem reports off does not stop that. Privacy notice
