Connect GitHub

Connecting GitHub lets cix see a repository, parse it, and build the index your assistant queries. It is the recommended way to connect a repository, and the only one that reindexes on its own and can be shared with a team.

1. Install the cix GitHub App

The first time you connect, you authorize the cix GitHub App on your GitHub account or organization. GitHub asks which repositories cix may access — you can grant a single repo, a selected list, or all of them. Grant access to the repositories you want your assistant to understand.

Changing which repositories cix can see later is done from github.com/settings/installations → the cix app. Permission and repository changes there must be accepted by the account or organization owner before they take effect.

2. Enable the repository in cix

Granting GitHub access makes a repository available to cix. Enabling it tells cix to index it. You enable repositories from your cix dashboard under Repositories. Once enabled, cix indexes the repository in the cloud.
